Hello friends and family,
I am writing this on behalf of my sister, Mickie. Yesterday afternoon, Mickie decided to enjoy a walk with her dog Missy. Missy is a two and a half year old English Bulldog. She is my sister’s entire world.
What started as a walk, quickly unfolded into a tragically horrifying series of events. Very shortly into this walk, Missy began showing symptoms of a heat related illness. This rapidly escalated within minutes to heatstroke. My sister struggled to carry missy who is a 50 pound girl off the trail, to her car to get help. Missy was rushed to a vet hospital.
On the way to the hospital she became unresponsive and is currently not in stable condition. Missy battled through the night to stay with us and is no where near done, but my sister is completely out of resources and money to keep her in the vet hospital.
Due to the temperature her body rose to, she is facing organ damage as well as her blood has completely lost the ability to clot. She is currently being given blood plasma transfusions. She is not in stable condition and needs to continue treatment for her to become stable.
Mickie has spent $8,000 (her entire savings)
as of today on the vet bills since yesterday afternoon and has completely exhausted every resource available. I am reaching out to ask for any donations possible, I thank you in advance for taking the time to read Missys story. This was a horrible freak accident, but a reminder for all dog owners that heatstroke can happen at anytime.
