Our friend Lux is a multiply disabled trans person in need of community support. They have been homeless for nine months and spent seven months staying in an unsafe and abusive shelter that they were violently removed from on on September 1st. Since then they have been staying in a hotel.

As a mobility device user with MCAS (which causes severe anaphylactic reactions to many common chemicals/environmental triggers including all fragrance and many foods), it has been impossible for them to safely stay anywhere. They are unable to move out of Toronto because the work of transferring what healthcare and social supports they have is far beyond what they or their limited support network is capable of.

Because the shelter system has been unable or unwilling to address their access and safety needs they are in a position where any attempt to access shelter or housing support results in them being coerced towards institutionalization. Meanwhile their friends have spent all summer searching for accessible and affordable housing in Toronto and North York to no avail.

They need emergency funds and funds for more permanent disability accessible housing. Please donate and share. 

The funds will allow them to pay first and last month's rent on a place, make necessary adjustments or renovations to make a new place accessible and survive until housing can be secured.
