Hello all animal lovers and welcome to my nightmare. My beautiful boy was shot. I started a new job today, so my boyfriend was home with my son and my dogs. While letting two of them outside to potty, they got out of our fenced yard, and a neighbor fired four shots, one of which hit my Great Dane named Loki. I got a call from another neighbor whose granddaughter called her at work to tell her what happened, and then she called me to check if everything was okay. But I had no idea because I was working; so I called my boyfriend, who hadn't heard anything but went outside to check, and sure enough, there he was, my blundering oaf of a gentle giant, leaking out pools of blood I saw on the video chat. I called a neighbor who would be home and could help my boyfriend assess the damages. Police and animal control showed up and wrote me tickets for my dog being outside the fence, yet there was my dog, who isn't aggressive and loves everyone, on the ground bleeding out with a left shoulder and chest wound.

So we took him to Blue Pearl Vet, who referred us to Wilson's. When we got there, they weren't willing to work with us as far as paying everything up front because they quoted us $8-$10k, and I don't have the credit for a care credit card or cash on hand like that.
