ANIMAL SANCTUARY IN SPAIN DESTROYED AFTER FLOODING. PLEASE DONATE TO HELP THEM REBUILD!
On a recent trip to Spain, my husband (Jackson Galaxy) and I met many hardworking, dedicated animal rescuers, and amongst them, those at an animal rescue/sanctuary on the outskirts of Madrid called "Salvando Peludos" (meaning "saving furry ones"). Sadly, our friends at Salvando Peludos are now facing an extreme crisis and need our emergency assistance...
On September 3, many parts of Spain were hit hard by a torrential rainstorm after a year-long drought, causing flash flooding and much destruction. At the Salvando Peludos sanctuary, the storm knocked over walls and fencing, destroying much of the housing for the cats, horses, pigs, and cows, and causing an estimated $53,000 in physical damage. Staff and volunteers have been working tirelessly around the clock to care for the existing 134 animals at the sanctuary, to locate those still missing (six cats), to clean up the aftermath of the flooding, and to start the rebuilding of the sanctuary. The group has received much volunteer and financial assistance from its supporters, but given the scope of devastation, much more assistance is still needed.
These animals have been through so much and need our help. I am appealing to the international community of animal lovers to help raise the additional $32,000 (€30,000) needed for Salvando Peludos to rebuild their sanctuary. Please help so that these animals can regain their homes and some level of normalcy, and so that this wonderful group can continue its vital work: saving the lives of countless animals, including cats, dogs, horses, sheep, goats, ducks, and many more.
On behalf of the animals, the staff, and the volunteers at Salvando Peludos, Jackson and I thank you from the bottom of our hearts for any help you can offer - however big or small. Thank you for caring.
[Please note that Salvando Peludos is not a US-based 501(c)3 charitable organization, and as such, your donation will not be tax-deductible.]
