Hi my name is Austin, Uncle to Avery Nathaniel and wanted to create a Gofundme on behalf of my sister due to the recent unfortunate event involving Avery.
Please see the below message from my sister, Ashley.
“As everyone knows, Avery was attacked by a dog Monday night. I never thought in a million years that I would have to pull a dog off my 3 year old face. We were rushed to St. Joes and as soon as we arrived, they knew by the looks of his injuries that they weren’t able to give him the treatment he deserved. They called the best children’s hospital in Illinois and thank GOD we were transferred to Lurie Childrens hospital. As soon as we arrived, they treated him and took them in as their own. As soon as they saw him, they immediately called their Plastic surgeon and came up with the best plan for Avery. They put him under to make him as comfortable as they could to take care of his cuts.
He has a slash in the face on the bottom left side that they were able to stitch up, Busted lip where it went through to his K-9 tooth, cut underneath his eye ( which was not deep enough to put stitches there), And his right cheek is the worst… He had a cut on his cheek, which was so deep… He had tissue pulled out of his face during the attack. He has stitches across his cheek and the surgeon stitched him up beautifully. The procedure took 30 mins and he was able to wake up right away and was responsive to us. ” I’m so happy you guys are back” Were his first worlds as he cried to us. The surgeon informed us that he was 1inch away from damage to his nerves and also eye.
Due to the injuries being so serious and how many stitches he has, we will be driving back and forth to Luris hospital every week for follow ups to make sure he has no infections from the dog or reopened wounds. Someone needs to be with Avery 24/7 to care for him. Unfortunately for the time being he is unable to function as a normal boy toddler. He can’t play or run around with other kids as his injuries to his face are too extensive therefore i will be staying at home with him. I am so blessed I’m able to be out of work with him but unfortunately with no source of income. Troy has to be at work to provide for us and the kids but that won’t cover for the time I’m of work. We are asking for any donations possible to help for gas back and forth from the hospital, medical bills, and any extra necessities Avery or our family needs during the horrible time. We thank god everyday for blessing us with the best friends and family and we ask you guys to please continue to pray for Avery.”
