The flood in the Sumas Prairie region of Abbotsford, destroyed the home of our parents, Al and Dorothy Balzer. Sadly, insurance doesn't cover flooding so they literally have no home to return to. Well, they cant even get back there if they tried....The bridge which gives them access to their property is completely gone. If you have ever driven to the Abby Grind, you have travelled on this cute, white, one way bridge over the dike.

 

On November 17, 2021, they had to be rescued by boat and taken to 3 Road to safety. They left with the clothes on their back. We have started this Fund to help reduce the financial burden of living essentials such as a place to rent, a vehicle to drive, clothes, food and furniture.

Most recently, Dorothy has retired and Al had a full shoulder replacement 2 months ago.
