I am creating this fundraiser on behalf of a close friend of mine who would like to remain anonymous for safety reasons. He is a queer Arab man who had to immigrate out of his home country to live safely and freely as his authentic queer self without risk.
He has been having significant financial difficulties while also struggling to find a job. He needs some emergency funds to help cover basic living expenses until he can find a job.
If he does not gather enough money to cover living expenses soon then he may need to return to his home country just to earn money there, but doing that means facing homophobic discrimination at home while also being separated from his community, friends, and partner, which would deteriorate his mental health and put him at risk.
Emergency funds will be used for rent, food, and healthcare.
The United States infamously makes it almost impossible for immigrants to earn money. On top of that, being a queer immigrant means that my friend is in a dangerous and alarming position.
Please consider donating and helping a queer Arab immigrant get back on his feet. After almost a year of struggling to stay afloat, the money that we raise will help him finally live comfortably and not have to worry every day about whether he will have to uproot his life. The financial help will secure his safety.
