On Wednesday, September 15th, I knew I had to get my sweet little cat, Minou, to the vet asap. She wasn't acting like herself at all, so I knew it was go time. After a few hours in the local hospital, it was revealed through xray that she had bladder stones, and not just the usual 2 or 4. She had more than a dozen large and small stones, inflaming her bladder immensely. After an emergency surgery, she was homebound on a strict diet of antibiotics and painkillers. Oh, and did I mention the UTI and the tapeworm? Yup, she's on medication for those as well.

Just when we think she's out of the woods, she went into respiratory shock early Saturday morning. We acted quickly and got her to a 24 hour hospital who immediately put her on oxygen. An x-ray was taken, and while we waited into the wee hours of the morning for the results, we had to think very hard about our next move. If it turned out to be heart failure, which may be caused by an exacerbated heart murmur, my partner and I really had to look at each other and ask ourselves: what the hell are we gonna do next?

Thankfully, despite thinking the worst would have to come, she is home and on a series of medications to help her big (literally) heart. I'm so so grateful for the care she received and feel so lucky to still have this animal in my life. But now that she's safe and sound, I'm faced with the reality of how much this has not only cost me emotionally, but also financially. All things considered, the full amount of surgeries and overnight costs come out to about 4,000, but she also has a new prescription diet to consider as well as a plethora of other health issues that need to be addressed down the road. I really must ask for a helping hand in covering the sudden and exorbitant fees that have been charged over the past 3-4 days from you, my community of friends, neighbors, and family. My partner and I have handled most of the costs up until this point, but with great strain on our wallets and minds, so any bit counts.

Maybe some of you have had the absolute pleasure of meeting Minou in person. Maybe some of you have seen her ever growing modeling portfolio. Or maybe some of you saw this just now and thought, "Wow, now THAT'S a cat." Cuz you'd be right. She is just a little cat. And she needs your help.
