It pains us to bring the news that we are considering closing our doors permanently. WE have struggled financially since the beginning, however with support from Family and Freinds we have been able to get by. However, due to continued lack of support and the pandemic, we have no other option but to close the Masjid permanently. The last thing we want to see is for the Masjid to close and so we hope you can help us keep our doors open another year and help us build the community so that we never have to consider closing ever again.
The Masjid's monthly expenses are on average $8,000 per month including utilities, salary for Imam, and basic maintenance. However, this does not include the costs for property taxes, repairs, and basic servicing for heating and HVAC units. We are working on the property tax exemption, however, we were denied exemption by the state and due to COVID were unable to dispute the state's decision and so we have been left to pay over $25,000 in taxes for the past 3 years.
This $100,000 will help to keep our doors open a while longer and give us time to build some more funds so that we may continue to serve the community and hopefully provide more programs and services for everyone. If we don't come up with the money by the end of the year then we will have no other option but to close the Masjid permanently.
