A Message from Hisham:

My name is Hisham Al-Madhoun, and I am 23 years old. I am from Palestine and live in Gaza. I dream of leaving Gaza with my family so we can live a dignified life without war and fear. I have four siblings: Mohammed, Amjad, Farah, and Rida. Additionally, we have a 12-year-old boy living with us who was forced to leave Gaza without his parents due to the occupation. I graduated from Palestine University and worked as a truck driver for a private company in Gaza until the war started. I can't describe how our lives have been turned upside down. We have been forced to move several times and face difficulties obtaining essential life necessities such as water, food, and shelter. We are compelled to live in tents in harsh weather conditions.

After being displaced to the southern part of the Gaza Strip and having our home bombed, I lost my job and my house, where I was preparing to start my own business. My older brother got married just a few months before the war and also lost his job. My father lost his job, and my younger brother, who was in his first year of studying engineering at university, couldn't continue his education because his university was destroyed. Farah is in middle school, and Rida is in elementary school.

Our current living conditions are dire. We face constant shortages of basic needs like clean water and food. The winter months are especially tough, with little protection against the cold. Every day is a struggle for survival, and the psychological toll of the war and displacement has been immense on all of us.
