Emergency Funding For The Goggins Family

Hello everyone,

You know those hard times in life where quite literally everything hits you all at the same time and absolutely bowls you down...?

Well, this is a fundraiser that Saltshack are coordinating on behalf of one of our dear originals, Sharron Goggin, who has experienced a really turbulent series of events lately.

We hope that if our community members are in a position to donate a little contribution to this fundraiser, that they will help us to send a nice chunk of cash towards a very worthy cause.

The target of the fundraiser is a desperately needed replacement vehicle for Sharron, her husband Steve, and their son Colby, who is quite profoundly autistic and cannot access public transport in order to attend medical appointments.

They are have been forced to replace their vehicle, which was stolen quite literally from their driveway in the night whilst they slept. The insurance they had didn't even completely cover the hire purchase financing for the vehicle, so the theft actually COST them £365 in addition to the loss of their transport (mobility, freedom etc), both granddaughters car seats, and Sharron's glasses!

This theft came at a time when they had already had to make a number of financial cuts as a family, as they were unfortunately navigating job loss and a family illness as well, so they've been left with nothing but a crime reference number from the police and a bill from the HP financers.

In addition to that awful feeling of sheer violation after having something stolen from their home, coupled with the complete loss of freedom,

Sharron has recently been diagnosed with osteoporosis of the spine and both knees, so she was entirely reliant on having the car to get around, and her son quite literally cannot use public transport to attend medical appointments. They have been having to try and get by with lifts from friends/family when they are available, but obviously this is not a long term solution and they desperately need to start looking for a replacement vehicle.

On top of all of that, last week, poor Sharron's washing machine AND cooker gave up the ghosts. Remember those post-job loss financial cuts I mentioned? Unfortunately the appliance insurance was one of those unaffordable luxuries that ended up being de-prioritised under essential things like food and electricity! So Sharron is now also in the market for affordable second hand options for a replacement washing machine and cooker. She's again having to rely upon friends/family members to pick up laundry loads for her, as without transport, she can't even pop it down to the launderette.

It sounds all in all like the beginning of 2024 has been somewhat relentless for Sharron and her family, and so we have created this fundraiser in the hopes of getting her some funds towards a replacement vehicle.
