Fundraiser for Intercultural House Construction

Hello!

We are fundraising for a Matsigenka family living in Madre de Dios, Peru. We are fundraising for the construction of a intercultural lodge. Where we hope to host people who want to stay with us and learn about the traditional way and philosophy of living here. We also are looking for help to fund construction for a kitchen so we can receive visitors…you all!

The combination of funds will go directly to a Matsigenka family from the headwaters of the river where the Amazon begins and the cleanest waters are found. The community consists of Percy Ramos, 27 years old, from Piñi Piñi and Yonny Kapeshi, 28 years old, from the Tsirerishi native community in the Manu National Park biosphere reserve, and their three children.

The Matsigenkas have lived for thousands of years at the headwaters of these rivers. Protecting it by caring for it and respecting this sacred cultural corridor. This family has the desire to establish a new native community in the future, and recover their lands where they traveled and lived, located at the junction of the Teparo and Alto Madre de Dios Rivers. These two rivers eventually arrive much later in the Amazon, conjoining with the Amazon river itself.

We are going to open our space where you can come to know and learn how we have lived since before the Incas and colonial times. Through oral traditions Matsigenka and Huachipaeri (a neighboring nation) have preserved stories of creation, songs of joy and other methods of healing, laws of coexistence with medicinal plants and habitat.

We are preparing our spaces to be able to receive you fully and more comfortably where you can better feel and enjoy your experience. We need a well implemented kitchen and a spacious dining room for you. This means constructing with wood collected from trees that fell dry or were abandoned by former loggers, in order to avoid deforestation. Each donation means a motivation of our group and implementation of our tools and progress in the construction.

We understand that you need other facilities for your arrival and enjoyment of Teparo. We have already advanced with the construction of an elevated wooden house and a bathroom with its proper sanitary facilities. We also need a new small motor to mobilize our boat. This vehicle also helps us to look for our food (fishing) and in the following year it will serve as transportation for the children who already have to go to school in the nearest town.

When you want to visit us these coming years, you will already be able to enjoy our first harvests of fruits that we have been planting since the time of the pandemic. Like fruit trees such as carambola, copuazu, camu camu, araça own and exotic fruits of the jungle In addition to oranges, grapefruit, sugar cane, types of pacaes.

Budget

$6,200 is needed for the kitchen, that includes a water transfer system for the kitchen and bathrooms with a motorized pump that runs on solar energy (solar panel, battery and accessories). For the small boat motor we need $1,900 for an 18 HP motor The engine helps us to go and catch our food such as fish as well as transportation for children and visitors.

Esta familia tiene el anhelo de constituir una nueva comunidad nativa a futuro, y recuperar sus tierras donde transitaban y vivían, ubicado en la conjuncion de los Ríos Teparo y el Alto Madre de Dios. Que llegarían mucho después al Amazonas.

Vamos a abrir nuestro espacio donde podrás venir a conocer y aprender cómo hemos vivido desde antes de los incas y la época colonial. A través de tradiciones orales Matsigenka y Huachipaeri (nación vecina) han conservado historias de creación, cantos de alegría y otros métodos de curación, leyes de convivencia con plantas medicinales y el hábitat.

Estamos preparando nuestros espacios para poder recibirlos a plenitud y más cómodos donde puedan sentir y disfrutar de mejor manera su estadía.

Necesitamos una cocina bien implementada y comedor amplio para ustedes. eso quiere decir colectar madera de árboles que cayeron secos o fueron abandonados por antiguos madereros, en pro de evitar deforestación.

Cada apoyo significa una motivación de nuestro grupo e implementación de nuestras herramientas y avanze en la construcción.

Entendemos que necesitan otras facilidades para su llegada y disfrute de Teparo.

Hemos avanzado ya con la construcción de una casa elevada de madera y un baño con sus instalaciones sanitarias adecuadas

Además necesitamos un motor nuevo de peque peque para movilizar nuestro bote. Este vehiculo nos sirve también para poder buscar nuestro alimentos (pesca) y de hecho al siguiente año nos servirá de transporte para los niños que ya tienen que ir a la escuela del pueblo más cercano.

Seguro que cuando quieran visitarnos al siguiente año, ya podrán disfrutar de nuestras primeras producciones de frutas que hemos ido sembrando desde tiempos de pandemia. Cómo árboles frutales como carambola, copuazu, camu camu, araça frutos propios y exóticos de la selva

Además de naranjas pomelos caña de azúcar tipos de pacaes.

Se necesita $6,200 para la cocina eso incluye sistema de traslado de agua para cocina y baños con motobomba que funciones a energía solar (panel solar, batería y accesorios).

Para el motor de peque peque para bote necesitamos $1,900 para un motor de 18 HP

El motor nos sirve para ir a coger nuestro alimento como pescado además de transporte para los niños y visitantes.
