Hey there! My name is Jaime, or James, and I live in New Zealand with my partner, Wolfe. Yes, the fundraiser says I'm from Birmingham, Alabama- that's where we used to live, and where I hold a bank account. We used to live in the southern USA, but due to obvious political tension and extreme instability and lack of safety for transgender people like Wolfe & I, we moved back to New Zealand; where I'm from, but where Wolfe has never been & has no citizenship.

We have spent the past six-ish months together here, living off my American bank account's savings, my mother's generous donations, and social welfare benefits as I struggle to find work, but as of recently, my mother lost her job, and I'm running out of savings to keep us afloat. Ontop of this, Wolfe's family has been using our immigration funds to keep themselves afloat in a time of serious poverty. They are unable to replace these funds.

We are almost completely out of spare money to cover bills, and have very little hope in covering the cost of a work visa to keep Wolfe here without these donations. Wolfe is not safe to go home; their legal name is a male name, and they look male, but they are legally female, so it's up in the air if they'd even be let through the American border. Asylum is not an option due to my country's strictness on it and the political tensions for transgender people in the United States are not currently our government's priority.

Please, I ask of you, if you have any spare funds, could you spare us some change? I ask for $10,000, because $9,000 of that goes towards a work visa & proving funds for it, and the other $1,000 will help to cover our bills for the time being. The conversion rate is high, so that should help us enough.
