Emergency Fund for Topher's Life-Saving Care
Donation protected
To my family, friends, acquaintances, and kindhearted strangers,
Hello, and thank you for taking the time to read about my sweet cat, Topher, who is unfortunately very sick.
- About Topher
I adopted Topher as a kitten while in college, hoping for a companion to love and care for—and he quickly became so much more than that. Over the years, we’ve shared countless special moments. He’s traveled with me, bonded with my family and our other pets, and loves basking in the sun at home. He’s never shown an ounce of aggression—he gets along with every dog he meets and adores our two energetic golden retrievers, Ricky and Donny.
Topher is an extraordinary cat. He’s affectionate, gentle, and endlessly sweet. He purrs with joy, welcomes cuddles, and accepts kisses from anyone—friend or stranger. For nearly 10 years, he has brought love and light to my life.
- Topher’s Diagnosis
Sadly, in September 2024, Topher was diagnosed with feline diabetes—a serious disease that affects blood sugar regulation, leading to lethargy, appetite changes, and other debilitating symptoms. Since his diagnosis, Topher’s care has been intensive and both emotionally and financially draining. It involves:
• Regular vet visits
• Glucose monitoring
• Insulin injections twice a day
• Hiring a pet sitter to administer insulin when we’re away
Last week, Topher suddenly stopped eating and drinking. I rushed him to the vet, where he was diagnosed with diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA)—a rare but life-threatening and often fatal complication of diabetes that requires immediate and intensive treatment, including:
• IV fluids
• Insulin
• Electrolytes and vitamins
• Tube feedings
• Constant monitoring
Current Situation
Right now, Topher is not himself. He’s weak, in pain, and unable to eat, drink, or go to the bathroom on his own. It’s devastating to see him like this—normally so vocal, happy, and full of life.
Topher has been hospitalized at our primary vet for four days and is showing small signs of improvement. However, he now needs overnight care in an emergency facility to receive round-the-clock treatment that could save his life. He will be admitted to the ER tonight, April 5, 2025, and may need to stay for up to a week to recover.
We have a glimmer of hope that we can save Topher’s life.
How You Can Help
We are holding onto hope for Topher to make a full recovery, but the cost is overwhelming. His daytime hospitalization has already been extremely expensive, and each additional night in the ER will cost approximately $1,500. If he stays through the minimum recommended week, April 12, the total cost will be significant—but it may give him the chance to live a full, happy life.
We are humbly asking for help with Topher’s ER costs. Any donation—big or small—will make a difference to his life and bring us one step closer to saving Topher. If you can’t donate, please share this page and keep Topher in your thoughts and prayers.
Our Hope and Prayers for Topher
We dream of celebrating Topher’s 10th birthday on June 12, 2025, and hope he has many joyful years ahead.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your compassion, support, and love.
With deep gratitude,
