Emergency Fund for the family of Cole Horton

I'm giving this platform a shot in hopes that my parents won't see or know about it until they need it.

My name is Gage, and recently our family lost our youngest member, Cole Horton, in a horrible murder.

This has been the worst event our family's ever had to deal with (and trust me, we've overcome some shit).

Cole was a beautiful young man who was selfless to the bone, full of love, and such a joy to be around. He gave me, my brother Chase, and our parents, Jessie and Sharon, endless laughter and warmth through his beautiful acts of kindness and hilarious antics. My parents unfortunately were the ones who had to find him on January 10th lying cold outside of their home without a pulse. He was shot 6 times and taken from us entirely too early. Cole has been under my parents' watch for his entire 26 years on this earth. He was their best friend and my role model. We were all extremely tight-knit as a family unit, but those 3 especially shared an unbelievably strong bond.

 

Many of you know that Cole and Dad ran their business, ProClean Softwash, together as a team. Cole assisted my dad with every job and was his number one hand. He was an extremely hard worker and looked forward to someday possibly taking control as time went on. As we trudge through the grieving process and try to put all these pieces together again, the coming months will be especially hard for my parents. My mother made the decision over a year ago to remove herself from her nursing profession to help run the business and to also help Cole with getting back onto his feet. Without Cole, business will be difficult to start up again with only my father. Chase and I will do everything we can to help regain some normalcy and bring everything back to whatever normal is, but it will certainly take time. We're asking for support in helping my parents get through these next few months and to begin locating a new home; remaining where they are now will be simply impossible with all of the trauma that's transpired.

 

If any of you know Jessie or Sharon Horton, you know this: they know nothing but to give, and they never ask for anything in return. I can't count how many times growing up that either of them has pulled over on the side of the road to help someone change a tire, to get someone out of a financial situation, to lend a place for someone to rest their head, to just be there for anyone in whatever possible way they could. They are the definition of selfless. It's their turn to feel what the other side is like.
