Emergency Fund for Ted Phelps (DVT, PE)

Last Thursday, Ted had to go to the ER after not feeling right since contracting Covid in November 2020. While there, it was discovered that he had a series of blood clots in his leg. His elevated heart rate led the doctor to order a CT scan which revealed the clots in his leg had broken off and spread to his lungs and become pulmonary embolisms. He was admitted to the hospital that night where he remained until yesterday evening. We are so glad that we convinced him to go to the hospital when we did because the nurse told us that he could have died if he hadn’t come in.
To say that the last few days have been a nightmare would be a massive understatement. We are shell shocked and worried about what comes next. We weren’t prepared for this at all. Thanks to Covid, Ted’s business has been non-existent, so this could not have come at a worse time. He has been dealing with multiple physical issues since having Covid which created problems throughout the campaign for his last album. Now that this has happened he realizes the severity of the situation and needs to be able to focus on his health and following doctor’s orders.
The costs stemming from this nightmare are already in the neighborhood of a small home purchase. The medication Ted will need to be on for at least 6 months (very possibly longer) along with all of the doctors visits and labs required will most likely be in the tens of thousands of dollars.
We have never created a GoFundMe for anything other than rescuing a feral cat. We hate that we even have to do this, but we are in a very bad position as we pay for all of our family’s medical care out of pocket. Ted is an extremely devoted husband and father and it is killing him that we have to ask for help as he is not used to not being able to provide for his family.
We’ve exhausted all other avenues available to us. We are asking for your help so we can get Ted back on his feet and weather this storm. Anything helps. Even if you can’t help financially, simply passing the link to this GoFundMe to your friends would mean the world to us.
