On July 6th, 2019 while setting up at the Charles Town Farmers Market, Shannon Floyd, 46 years young and with no prior medical history, suffered what is known as a “widow maker” heart attack.
Thanks to the fast action of many market vendors and market management, Shannon was transported by ambulance to Jefferson Medical Center where she was prepared to be airlifted to Berkeley Medical Center. The staff at Berkeley Medical Center were ready and waiting when Shannon arrived, she was taken immediately to the cath lab where Dr. Finster and his staff worked quickly and diligently to repair Shannon’s heart. Dr. Finster placed 3 stents in Shannon’s heart to clear the blockages. She remained in the hospital for four days due to unstable blood pressure levels. Even with the fast action of everyone involved, which is vital during a heart attack, Shannon only has 45% function of her heart at this time. She is home now, resting and ready to start Cardio Rehab Therapy. And even though she is eager to return to market, Dr’s orders are preventing her from returning until she has started her therapy and they have a better idea of how her heart functions under exertion.
We are starting this GoFundMe page to help Shannon and her family get through these difficult times. It’s been 2 and half long weeks since Shannon’s medical emergency. The uncertainty of what medical costs will be covered and loss of income are putting a drastic strain on her and her family. If you are able to help please do so and know that Shannon and Scott will be eternally grateful and if any of you are ever in need know that they will lovingly and graciously return the favor. Peace, Love and Blessings!
