The Zumba Family around world, we are asking for your help. We are mobilizing to show aloha and support to our Zumba Instructors who have lost everything in the fires in Lahaina, Maui.

Let me introduce you to one of them.. Alton DeGama- Alton left Maui on a flight headed to Zumba Instructor Convention in Florida on Tuesday when the fires began. His wife Laurie spoke with him on the phone to inform him they were evacuating their home and Lahaina town as the bushes in their back yard began to catch fire.

By the time he had made it to Florida his phone was flooded with messages..

“EVERYTHING IS GONE”

With no word from his wife, no cellular service in Maui, and no way to communicate with family. He spent the entire next day waiting, worrying, and praying for their safety. With all this going on Alton walked around Zumba Convention with a smile on his face, spreading joy and sharing hugs with his Zumba friends from all over the world. When the call came late that evening.. everyone is safe.. that was all he needed to hear.

The reality of the devastation is sinking in. He has nothing left but the cloths that he came to Zumba Convention with.

Alton’s story is just one in the growing number. More of our ZIN community has been affected.

My name is Katie Moore. I am a Zumba Jammer in Hawaii located on the Big Island in Kailua Kona.

All the funds raised will go directly and exclusively to the ZIN members/Zumba instructors on Maui who have lost their homes in these devastating fires. The funds will be distributed evenly to the ZIN for them to use as they see fit in this increasingly difficult situation they all now face.
