Emergency Foy Family Fundraiser

Donation protected
Hello friends of the Foy Family! Please consider donating to my good friends, the Foys, as they are in desperate need of our help! Although they feel so humiliated by this experience of needing to ask for help so many times, they are putting aside their pride in order to try to keep not only some normalcy for their daughter, but to prevent them from having to lose everything through Bankruptcy. They are asking and praying for a miracle.

The Foys are facing eviction from their manufactured home park due to being behind in the monthly space rent. Today is the final day of the three day notice or quit. Their park wants a large substantial payment in order for them to stay or they have to quit. Steve tried to keep Amy shielded from these things and make payments when he could, but he wasn’t straightforward with Amy out of fear of disappointment. He admits that his pride and ego thought that he could work around these problems but it hasn’t. Steve and Amy are horribly embarrassed that they keep needing to ask for help, but they are desperate and have exhausted most options. In a perfect world, they would love to buy time and ideally keep Hallie in school until the end of the school year. This process has been devastating for her and school has been her saving place with the good friendships that she’s developed. Hallie has suffered so much emotionally in this process, she’s had headaches everyday, as well as being sick. She is also in therapy to help her cope with her anxiety and depression.

Amy’s health has been worse throughout this process; her Lyme symptoms batter her everyday and she cannot collect any disability due to a problem with her last teaching job. Amy was horrifically bullied and forced out of her school district years ago when her Lyme symptoms began to emerge. She basically was told to quit quietly or they would blackball her from potential future teaching positions. The administrator that bullied her has been doing the same to other teachers since Amy left. Some of those teachers are friends of Amy’s who are now feeling the wrath of this administrator. The district backed up the administrator and forced Amy out. Amy’s emotional health, confidence, and physical health were very damaged in this process. She has been diagnosed with Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder because of this traumatic experience. The district did not pay into social security, and when Amy returned from maternity leave the district neglected to reinstate her disability insurance. The Foys have had to pause Lyme treatment due to the costs.

With their big tender hearts, the Foys have taken in rescue cats over the years and they now have a tremendous fear of losing them. They are like their children and the thought of losing any of them is heartbreaking. They are essentially emotional support animals. They are working on having their pets certified as support animals as well.

In addition to Steve’s job as a PE teacher, about ⅓ of his salary goes directly to medical insurance for Amy and Hallie, which is over $1,100 per month just to have basic coverage. They still have prescription costs, Amy and Steve had MRI’s done recently, Hallie has been sick several times this past school year as well including an emergency room visit. Steve has gone back to officiating sports on weeknights and weekends whenever there are games available. So there are times he’s home for a snack or dinner, then back out. He’s not home until after 10pm some nights. When he’s not officiating he works for DoorDash to help with groceries. Throughout this process Amy has been working on her teaching credential in hopes of finding a district job that will pay better and have better health benefits for the family, which should be complete this May.

On top of this already very difficult situation, the Foys had a pipe leak in their kitchen which has warped their floors and mold is suspected to be growing. One plumber tried to scam Amy and insist that our home need a full-copper repipe, when really only one small part needed repairing. Now, their floors need replacing. They suppose now, repairing the floors would be a waste of money since they are being forced to sell their home in a quick sale.

Amy and her daughter, Hallie have been seriously impacted by Lyme Disease. Amy has been receiving medical treatment since her diagnosis in 2017. She was finally able to get a diagnosis after 8 years of severe symptoms and nearly 40 doctors either mis-diagnosing, or only working on one or two symptoms out of her body-system wide problems and chronic pain. In reality, Amy has been repeatedly sick throughout her life. It is thought by her Lyme Literate Physician that the Lyme has been underlying all along. Continuous upkeep, care and as much as possible - a stress-free environment is key to keeping both Hallie and Amy in some sort of “working” order as they recover. Unfortunately, Kaiser Permanente is not recognizing Lyme Disease as a chronic issue, in spite of world-wide evidence to the contrary. They are currently in the process of labeling her with the diagnosis of Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue, joint instability and the CPTSD.

Things they are doing to get better: Amy has been going through all their documents and is attempting to find flexible remote work online to help with expenses. Amy has been pouring over every financial document we’ve had and we are working on a plan to be smarter financially. They have subscribed to Dave Ramsey, and looked at other ways to use what money they have. They are getting financial counseling and planning to utilize their finances better to stay out of trouble. They have called various organizations asking for assistance and guidance with little response.

Thank you to everyone who has helped the Foys before! I’m sorry that we are asking again. I wish there was another way. The Foys will be grateful for any help you can provide while they continue to work out this situation. Please, if you feel led, consider helping the Foys through this challenging time as they also work hard to find long-term solutions! Perhaps you even have some long-term solutions to offer! ❤️❤️❤️ Steve is going to need a room to stay in where he is hoping to also house at least two of their beautiful and sweet kitties through the end of the school year. Hallie and Amy will need to relocate to live with family, and they are allowed to bring two of our kitties with them. They are also looking for a foster home(s) for the remainder of the kitties . . . hopefully one that can be visited daily, until they settle into a new home. Thanks for your help and support, and here’s to better health for everyone!
