I am on the board of Exceptional Minds, a non-profit school in Sherman Oaks, CA that trains adults with autism with computer animation skills. Our graduates go on to get jobs at studios such as Pixar, Marvel, Nickelodeon, etc.

We just learned that two of our students are facing a major food and housing security crisis. They are living in housing shelters and facing food shortages due to their families being out of state and unable to provide for their needs. Covid and the current economic environment has created lots of challenges. Despite the difficulties, these two students journey on and continue to do their best at school.

This is a heartbreaking story of the students' determination. While Exceptional Minds provide need-based tuition assistance, we have never faced a problem like this before and thus have neither the policies nor financial means to help these two students with this emergency. That's why I'm starting this GoFundMe to raise the funds to get them a room they can share for the rest of the academic year ... to allow them to continue learning and developing their skills while we figure out how to prevent future cases like this from arising.
