5k a day for flood victims in Libya
I am raising money for people affected by the flooding in Libya.
This disaster made the news only quite transiently in the UK, but it has had an absolutely horrific impact on people, a situation that I have become very aware of through my student Aya at the University of Southampton.
It has displaced tens of thousand of people and there is an estimated death toll of 20,000. People have lost entire families. Libya has an unstable political system with limited functioning government and so the people are almost entirely reliant on humanitarian aid.
So, for the whole of October I've set myself the challenge of running at least 5k every single day. That's 31 days straight. Please do consider making a donation to keep me motivated!!!
This is a big challenge for me. In fact, some of you may remember the last time I did this in 2020. It was horrible then and I'm sure it'll be just as horrible now. (You can read about it last time here ).
I enjoy my beer and food and generally lounging about. Keeping motivated to get out, regardless of weather, darkening nights, state of mind or hangover is going to hurt. I'll keep you updated daily with progress.
Please note that we know the charity Libya in the UK well and all your donations will be put to good use. You can find more about the work that they do here: https://www.instagram.com/libyaintheuk/?igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA%3D%3D
