Our dad is a lifelong endurance athlete — a dedicated cyclist who has spent decades riding the roads of Tucson, living an active, disciplined lifestyle that defined who he is. So when he arrived at the hospital in acute heart failure, the medical team was genuinely stunned by the severity of his condition. On paper, it didn’t match the man in front of them.

Thanks to extraordinary, fast-acting care, he is improving — but he is not yet out of the woods. His doctors are continuing advanced testing to understand what caused such sudden heart failure in someone so active and resilient. More than one provider has described his progress as remarkable.
