Help Kelly Stay Housed While Battling Severe Disability & Medical Crisis

My mother, Kelly Lynn Byers Gustafson, is in a life-or-death situation right now. She is facing eviction and back rent while battling some of the most serious medical conditions a person can have. She is physically unable to move, pack, or relocate without professional help — and she cannot survive on the street.

I’m asking for help to keep her safe, stable, and in housing while we fight to get her the disability support she needs.

Kelly’s Health Crisis

My mom is severely disabled — both physically and mentally — and her doctors have confirmed she cannot live independently without full-time care. Here is only some of what she is dealing with:

Major Medical Conditions

Hemochromatosis – causes iron overload; she has a surgical port and needs iron drawn weekly

Diabetes – requires insulin 4 times a day (Lantus + Novolog)

Neuropathy in hands and feet

Severe arthritis & joint deterioration

Multiple joint replacements


Right ankle femur hip replacement left shoulder wrist hip replacement

Right leg is a inch shorter

Four ganglions in her right wrist and hand

Right ear cartilage removed and surgically placed in nose

Frequent skin blistering & scaling

Hair loss

Broken tailbone — 3 times

Calf swelling requiring 3–4 hour Epsom salt + essential oil therapy sessions

Cancers requiring radiation

Cannot eat fruits, pasta, sugars, dairy, or iron

Mobility & Daily Function

Uses a wheelchair and walker

Needs assistance with bathing, dressing, meals, transportation, and medical care

Weighs 108 lbs and must drink protein supplements to maintain weight

Undergoing aqua therapy 3 times a week

Mentally disabled with dyslexia, OCD, PTSD, and agoraphobia

Constant severe pain in joints, hips, wrists, feet, and tailbone

She simply cannot lift, move, bend, pack, or relocate without professional movers, and she cannot survive without stable housing and care.

Why We’re Asking for Help

Kelly has fallen behind on rent because:

She cannot work.

Her conditions require full-time care.

Medical costs and strict diet needs are extremely expensive.

We are still waiting on disability and IHSS support to process.

We are now facing eviction with nowhere safe for her to go.

To stop the lockout and stabilize her, we urgently need help covering back rent and moving/medical support.

What the Funds Will Cover

Every dollar will go directly toward:

Back rent

Preventing eviction or extending move-out

Hiring medical-safe movers & packers

Protein supplements and medical dietary needs

Transportation to weekly medical appointments

Basic living expenses while disability aid is processed

Why This Matters

My mom is one of the kindest people alive, but she is trapped in a body that is failing her from every direction.

She is too sick to move. Too disabled to fight this alone.

She deserves safety, dignity, and stability — not to be thrown into homelessness while fighting for her life.
