Emergency Evacuation for Haneen's Family
Donation protected
This is what Haneen wrote to you,
Haneen Harara is a Palestinian journalist based in Gaza. She is a mother, a daughter, my cousin -- a human.
While covering the updates on the ground of the ongoing escalations against the Gaza Strip and enduring daily airstrikes, she's made it a priority to amplify stories of Palestinian refugees in the Gaza Strip.
Although difficult to ask, Haneen has exhausted all other options and can no longer support or ensure the safety and security of her loved ones, that’s why she needs to evacuate her children and mother out of Gaza to Egypt.
Your donations are helping pay for the safe passage from Gaza to Egypt, the permit fee per person to cross Rafah now has risen to $9,000. These are the fees the world has imposed on her family to live.
You can follow Haneen's journey on instagram at: @haneenharara, where you can also witness her spirit and the resilience of the Palestinian people.
Salam dear, this is Haneen Harara,30, a Palestinian journalist based in Gaza, I turned my new year in the middle of war while I was covering the updates on the ground of the ongoing escalations against the Gaza Strip where the airstrikes above me.
I need your support to evacuate my three little children and my grandma from Gaza to Egypt, she needs an urgent medical care, suffering from chronic diseases such as heart problems. My two boys need a treatment too after they witnessed violence from the attacks, bombardments and diseases are suffering in this miserable circumstance, smell phosphorus bombs, and getting wounded and ill, they miss their normal lives, going to kindergarten and school, eating enough and sleeping in their beds, having clean clothes, save shelters as home! We want to evacuate the tent in Rafah City, the area with square 55 KM! where no capacity, where no safe shelters, no essential supplies such as clean water to drink, food to eat, or even any medical supplies.
The situation in the Gaza Strip is dire, getting worse day by day, people are forced to smash the dry food of animals to feed their children. Starvation could be deadlier than attack as the UN announced! We lifted all that we had and evacuated looking for safety, I’m writing to you while I am sitting in the TV van where an internet connection is available from time to time, this is the only way to keep you posted.
This van is the place I spent all my life in, however, we lost 122 journalists during their covering on the ground. I can’t even know if I will survive or not, I experienced moments worse than death here, the hardest with my kids at night, and every morning we wake up with no losses considered a new victory!
But now it’s become much more dangerous while this morning the aeroplanes being dropped leaflets over the "safe area"! We have been displaced at least twice already! It’s the same catastrophe that happened in the north before the I.O.F committed massacre there, now we just wait our turn and I can’t bear this pain! Seeing my babies die!!!!
Do you hear my voice??
We all torture slowly as a collective punishment is! The airstrikes and bombings are coming closer and closer, we can’t sleep a couple of days as the war starts on the first day.
I might not survive this because I have to complete my mission, my duty and my commitment toward my people and continue the covering of stories, voices and awareness, distributing the humanitarian aid, but I want to give my children a chance, my husband too, to take care of them. My three children Haneen is the youngest 4 years old, Hamza will turned 6 on 11 Feb, and Mohammed 9. I have lost everything to this war, even my family home!
I forgot to tell you that I am working as a humanitarian activist too, I always feel grateful when I reach people and provide them with some supplies, because I know very well how awful to become a refugee in your own home! I will never leave Gaza, if I did it would be for my kids only, and then we all will return to our homes and origins, to rebuild what we lost. My children and I have witnessed and experienced this pain, but YOU, are the one who can take a real stand for humanity to help us. Share it to help me protect my family as I always did, a fighter mommy all the time.”
Haneen insists on completing her mission of reporting the genocide as she feels it is her duty and commitment to her people. Her children; four, six and nine have lost everything due to this genocide and she is trying to save their lives.
