Hey everyone,
If you know Mike Turski from Saints & Sinners, or The Rainbow, or Bigfoot Lodge, or any of the myriad other Los angeles spots he's frequented or worked, you know he's a big-hearted, reliable, caring man. If you weren't aware, he has spent the last few years being his mother's in-home caretaker (that might be why you haven't seen him since COVID).
His mother has had a number of health issues and complications, including two strokes and a battle with her heart and blood pressure. This last week, she was admitted to the hospital with desperately low BP, and Mike began to plan for end-of-life scenarios. The hospital released her, at her request, to go home where she would be more comfortable.
However, this most recent hospital stay (including mandatory ambulance rides and take-home equipment) has wiped out what money Mike had left, and as a result is staring down rent at the beginning of the week with nothing to cover it, let alone living expenses.
I'm trying to organize an emergency influx of some cash for Mike and his mom to overcome this latest hurdle.
Please help in any way you can, and thank you for your generosity in a time when I know we are all doing our best to push through.
-Ian
