I am Fabienne Goutier, I grew up in Haiti and I have always had a heart for giving...of my time, money, knowledge and voice. I became a nurse 11 years ago and moved back to Haiti after the earthquake. My family and I have been giving back even more since. I have been working in the most difficult areas sometimes with many and sometimes alone. My family is dedicated to the rebuilding of Haiti and sacrifice much to be here knowing that we have to make a difference. Haiti depends on us.
It is my life long goal for Haiti to be self healing but I recognize that it is not yet able, we still need so much accurate help. One of the areas that we lack manpower is in the medical field, we are constantly being struck by disasters and emergencies that we simply can't recover from due to lack of in-country knowledge. I work with medical teams from all over the world who are committed to me and Haiti. They come to support my cause and my homeland but one day it will be time for us to know what to do for ourselves.
When I saw the AFP Emergency and Disaster training opportunity in Israel, I thought I must surely go and learn. Right then on October 3rd Hurricane Matthew slammed into Haiti making me realize more than ever that I need this training for my people.
I got caught up with the disiater response and didn't post this earlier so now I don't have much time, but I am ready to go. Give what you can so that I can get the training and come back to Haiti with this knowledge and share it with others. I know that this knowledge will enable me to lead better emergency and disaster responses in Haiti so that we can be a stronger country.
I need funds to pay the course and for my airfare from Haiti to Israel. The course starts on November 12, 2016.
