Gaza, Urgent Cancer Treatment and Food!

Emergency/Cancer Patient Needs Help and Goes Out for Treatment My name is Michael, I am a friend of Hatem Al Maghribi and I live in America, northwest of Chicago. I am organizing this campaign and I tell the story of Umm Hatem with great sadness and grief. Umm Hatem’s story is a heartbreaking one that highlights the struggles faced by cancer patients in conflict zones. Hatem Al Maghribi tells the story of his mother, a 64-year-old woman battling cancer amidst the turmoil of war. Despite enduring multiple surgeries and treatments, their access to medical care has been severely limited due to the ongoing conflict. She needs chemotherapy, a radiotherapy procedure, and surgery to remove a residual cancerous tumor in her colon wall, in addition to her need for nutrition and immune system support. They have been displaced from their home and are living in dire conditions in a tent on the beach in Deir al-Balah.

They need food, water, and medicine in light of the famine that is raging in Gaza City in order to survive. With the Rafah crossing closed and the exorbitant bribes required to access treatment in Egypt, they are in dire need of financial assistance. Appealing for help to cover the costs of basic needs, treatment, housing and medical necessities, estimated at $30,000, Hatem stresses the gravity of the situation and asks for support to save his mother’s life and restore her smile amidst the devastation of war. It is a poignant reminder of the human toll of conflict, as individuals like Hatem’s mother not only battle cancer but also the barriers imposed by war to access life-saving treatment.
