I'm J and this poor girl is Stella. Stella was attacked by an off-leash dog in Center City while we were walking to work. It happened so fast. The dog is known in the area and is owned by a homeless individual who was with the dog but appeared to be passed out. A stranger helped to release the dog from Stella, and I ran as fast as I could, carrying her to VEG Animal Emergency Hospital on Walnut Street. They were so amazing and rushed to help. The severity of the injury required surgery, which they couldn't do. So, we transferred her to PASE Emergency on Washington.
After reviewing the X-rays, she broke both her left ulna and radius. The ulna will require some hardware to keep it stable. There are also some chips in her bone from other teeth marks. All of this is costing around $9,000. Recovery is 6-8 weeks. This is an unexpected expense I was not prepared for. She had such a fun and happy Christmas yesterday, and now this. She is my world. I'm most appreciative that you've taken the time to read this.
