My name is Kara and I’m the proud mom of a loving, energetic, and handsome dog named “Bandit”. I rescued him four years ago, and those years have truly been the happiest of my life. He’s my best friend, my shadow, and my heart.

Recently, Bandit began showing unusual symptoms and was diagnosed with protein-losing nephropathy (PLN). This is a condition where the body loses vital protein through the urine. His health declined quickly. Fluid began filling his abdomen, his legs became swollen, and he stopped eating. We rushed to the ER, where he received a protein transfusion that helped stabilize him. From there, he was transferred to an internal medicine hospital for more advanced care. Bandit had a feeding tube placed so he can receive nutrition and medication. We’re still searching for the underlying cause of his PLN - infection or an autoimmune issue. He is also showing signs of chronic kidney disease. It is uncertain how much time Bandit has left. I am utterly heartbroken, but trying to remain positive and hopeful. Bandit has given me nothing but unconditional love, and I’m committed to giving him the best care and the best life for as long as I can.
