Emergency Care Costs for Aideen

Help the Road to Recovery!

Hi, I'm Crow! Not many of you know me personally - I'm a rather stubborn person in general when it comes for asking for help, but this has become a last resort for me to help recover costs for Aideen's emergency vet bill. If you can't donate, that's fine! I'd appreciate anybody that even spreads this link or let others know. I also want to just spread awareness for other cat owner's like me that this is a real threat for cats just as much as it is for people.

On the evening of December 24th, Christmas Eve, I had just gotten back from a trip and had my beloved cat Aideen under the care of a family member. There was no warning or anything other than when I had went to check my cat for the first time after unpacking, he was unusual and didn't want anything to do with me. When I picked him up, he was silent and immediately went limp in my arms which to any pet owner, I hope you never have to experience that brief moment of thinking your pet had just died in your arms. This was a health crisis that shook me to the core, and after calling multiple offices, we found one willing to take him on Christmas Eve around 8PM, and we were on the road as soon as we got the okay.

Aideen, who is usually a cuddle bug in my arms, was having sporadic seizures in my arms, and all I wanted for Christmas at this point was for him to come home with me safe and sound.

I rushed him to the emergency clinic Vet-I-Care, where the vet diagnosed Aideen with diabetes. I wasn't sure how this all happened as he was on a c/d diet for over 9 years, but vets assured me sometimes this just comes into a cat's life and often goes unnoticed. His glucose level was a staggering 393, over double the value of a normal reading for a cat's glucose level. Immediate action was crucial, and Aideen needed to be put on insulin, along with a lot of other fluids right away to recover him. My Christmas was spent by his side, ensuring he received the care and attention he needed until he could come home on December 29th.

Then, when he was able to come home, came the weight of the hefty bill, totaling $2,798.99 and as of 1/10/24, it looms over me. As a college student working full-time, I've been doing everything possible to manage this unexpected expense during such a bad timing, but I would've done it again since it meant saving his life. I've donated blood, and I'm exploring the option of donating plasma to help also help save lives while being paid for a brief relief for my bank account. I've sold personal items and tightened my budget to the maximum, and I'm looking to get ahold of a second job if need be all in an effort to recover from the financial strain this emergency has placed on me.

Your generous contribution will help cover Aideen's emergency vet bills and cover partial ongoing diabetes treatment as I get a footing into caring for a cat with diabetes, it's been a learning curve but I'm doing my best. I personally want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for even reading this all the way through, and even if you can't donate, just reading this means a lot and spreading the word. Your kindness means the world to both of us right now.

  • If you want to know more about Aideen, or how he's currently been, I plan to upload some videos of him soon over on my Youtube channel: Here
  • Want to learn about Aideen's condition? Here's a link to a source given to me by Aideen's vet that's been my textbook throughout this: Feline Diabetes
  • If you want to personally reach out to me with advice or even opportunities I could use right now (either cash or recommendations on a care guide for Aideen) reach out to me in comments or contact me!

Once again, thank you for time!
