Hi Folks,

My name is Chris. My husband and I are queer mental health professionals in Missouri, and we need your help to move to a safer location. As professionals, we both serve the queer community. Kansas has just criminalized affirming mental healthcare for queer youth, and Missouri has 21+ bills pending that target healthcare access for queer folk and the providers who serve them. The safest way for us to earn a livelihood and keep serving our clients is remotely from a jurisdiction that won't arrest us for providing evidence-based care to gender queer folk.

We're less than 4 weeks out from our move and this afternoon we watched our only vehicle get totaled right in front of our apartment in a hit and run accident. No one was hurt, but our car is totaled at a time when all of our resources have gone to funding an urgent move out of state we never expected to make. We're out over $5,500 this week alone in unexpected costs, and we have no funds available to put towards a replacement car. We are asking for help to get us out of Kansas City and set up safely in Illinois to protect ourselves and our clients.
