I wanted to create an official fund raiser for this cause as we are attempting to raise funds to help my family members who are being dislocated to Poland due to the ongoing crisis in Ukraine.
On Thursday March 3, 2022 5 of my relatives that were able to leave, have departed the city of Kriviy Rih on their way to Lviv, Ukraine via train and ultimately to get to Poland. It has taken them longer than expected to travel across the country and as of this moment, they have not yet safely crossed the border into Poland but we have been told that they are close. However we anticipate their arrival today if all goes according to plan.
They had to leave behind their homes, much of my family and their own husbands, in order to get their children out to safety. With that said, there is very little they were able to take with them other than documents, very little clothes and whatever small items of importance they could manage to make this long journey with.
We have been able to secure all of them a safe and warm place to stay indefinitely. But, not knowing how long they will be displaced, a lot of help will be needed. There are 2 adult women, a 21 year old female, a 16 year old boy and a 12 year old girl that will need all the assistance they can get with basic necessities such as food, clothing, toiletries/hygiene items, etc. We know the crisis will not be resolved in the immediate future and we are looking at months if not a year or more of trying to assist them even if there is a possibility they will be allowed to work eventually.
If you find it in your heart and are able to contribute any monetary donation, it would be immensely appreciated. If you cannot for whatever reason, I ask that you at least pray for their safety and share this with your friends and family. I will continue to post updates on their arrival and when they are able to get situated in Warsaw, Poland. We will have additional family members trying to transport out more younger children in our family in the near future and I will add information about that once we have the plans in motion.
With lots of Gratitude,
Katherine Danko.
