Emergency Assistance for Johnnina Ray and Daughter

Greetings to All,

I am Johnnina Ray, some of you may know me and some of you may not know me. My daughter graduated college May 4, 2024 with 2 degrees, Pre-law and Pre-med with honors. The plan was to move from Missouri to Texas after she graduated, so I quit my job, packed up everything and we arrived in Texas May 10, 2024. We were invited to live with a close family member until we could find employment and our own place of residence. Unaware that this family member takes medication, suffers from mental health issues and unpredictable behaviors. Since living here, we have suffered mental, verbal and financial abuse. We have also been threatened multiple times with physical violence and being put out on the street as well, which is frightening in an unknown place. We are emotionally, physically, spiritually and financially drained. I believe that we were only invited to live with this family member for their financial gain. Upon arrival, we were met with an unsafe neighborhood, very unclean living space, gnats everywhere, strong smells of animal feces, no food, no toilet tissue, no cleaning supplies, unpaid rent and unpaid utilities. Before we arrived this family member was sent our portion of the rent and after arrival given more money to help pay their unpaid rent and unpaid utilities. In May alone, I purchased over $500 in food and household needs. This amount does include buying them cigarettes and gas for their car so they can get to work. I am an extremely clean person, so I also cleaned up everything to perfection, including animal feces. In the months of June and July, the same situations happened with this family member. We have also had 2 natural disasters since moving here, a tornado on May 14, 2024, which caused a 3 day power outage and destroyed some of the food that I purchased and Huuricane Beryl. Our dream of moving to Texas has turned into a nightmare because of this family member. I have tried to find assistance here to help us, but unfortunately because there are so many people in Texas, resources are very limited. For safety reasons, we were willing to go to a shelter, but unfortunately they are full as well. I am asking for financial help and prayer to get us to a safe space. The cheapest hotel and our best option is Intown Suites hotel $1229 for one month and is in a safe area in Texas. Please keep in mind that no amount is too small because every dollar helps. Please also keep in mind that Go Fund Me does take a portion of all donations as fees. Once there we will take the time to recover financially, heal and find our own safe place of residence. We will never interact with this family member again for safety reasons. Thank you for taking the time to listen and all donations.
