We need your help.

The text below is the original from when this gofundme was started, please go to the updates to see how the story has progress and why we still need your help. Thank you so much for viewing our fundraiser and hopefully we can help you in the future, or possibly we already have.

Regards,
Rick and the team at ELM

It just goes to show you, that you truly can’t rest on your laurels. Last year ELM Wildlife became the largest capacity hedgehog rescue in the Southwest and our plan was only to expand further when we found larger premises, as it was already becoming a squeeze. Unbeknown to us one of the smaller rescues closed its doors at the beginning of August 2021, we only cottoned on when intake numbers were a little higher in August and September, but weren’t too worried as the rescue posted they would be open again on October 1st. The beginning of October came and went and we topped our 2000th casualty, quickly followed by another 300; the other rescue then changed plans again, now not open until next year!

We decided in October that we needed to take swift action and started to rearrange our space to try and increase our capacity so as to save as many hedgehogs as we could, this was not an easy decision as the constraint on space also has effects on all the daily logistics, including our volunteer workforce.

This is where you come in; to help us save the poor little souls who would not have anywhere else to go, it's truly heartbreaking to receive call after call and have to turn sick and injured hedgehogs away.

We are making the space, but need your support to help us purchase more equipment, I’d like to try for £3500 which we need urgently for racking and cages, if we better this figure, we can start looking at more incubators and other much needed equipment to meet the extra capacity. It doesn’t stop there, with the extra capacity comes higher overheads for medication, syringes, needles and vet bills...

ELM Wildlife is never quiet and there is always a substantial demand for our help, please consider monthly Standing Orders, fundraisers or corporate sponsorship to support us as we get no government funding or payments from the RSPCA.

Please help us save as many hedgehogs as we can this winter and support our Gofundme and thank you for your kindness.

Warmest regards,

Rick, Jacky and Emily Parker

Plus all our dedicated volunteers at ELM Wildlife.
