Emergency Appeal for Displaced Families in Akobo, Jonglei State – South Sudan
On Monday 16 March, I will begin a hunger strike to raise £10,000 for humanitarian assistance for displaced families in Jonglei State, South Sudan.
The situation in Akobo and across Jonglei is rapidly deteriorating. Renewed violence has forced around 300,000 people from their homes, leaving families scattered across remote areas with little or no access to food, shelter, or medical care. Among them are thousands of children who are now at risk of severe hunger and disease.
Many humanitarian organisations have been forced to withdraw because of insecurity. As a result, communities are left without the support they desperately need. If we do nothing now, children will die of hunger in Akobo.
That is why I am taking this step.
Starting on 16 March, I will go on a hunger strike to raise awareness of this crisis and to raise £10,000 in emergency support for displaced families. I will not end the hunger strike until this amount is raised, because the urgency of the situation demands action.
I am honoured to be joined in this campaign by John Kuei and David Yambio, who are standing together with me to ensure the voices of the displaced and ethnically targeted people of Jonglei are heard.
The funds raised will go toward urgent humanitarian assistance, including:
Emergency food supplies
Basic medical support
Essential items for displaced families
Assistance for vulnerable children
Every contribution, no matter the size, will help us respond to a crisis that is not receiving the attention it deserves.
Please stand with us.

Donate if you can.
Together we can help save lives in Akobo and across Jonglei.
