This is Rolando. A man who had established a life in Michigan and created himself a home. In this photo he is happy and at home. But he went from living a life working and providing to now being in an extreme crisis after having been detained and now deported to Mexico. He is suffering from little access to sufficient food, having access to medicine for his health conditions, and even lacks proper clothing! He needs our help!

Rolando was pulled over and detained by ICE on August 9th in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He spent 53 days in jail before it was determined that he would be deported to Mexico. During this time Rolando did not have any access to contact family or friends for help. NO ONE knew of his whereabouts! Until just days ago when he was finally able to find means to contact his loved ones.

He is ACTIVELY being escorted by the Mexican Navy to another state in Mexico where some of his family lives. But during this entire time Rolando has lost 30 pounds in jail and in travel. This is due to the lack of proper food he is receiving. He no longer has clothes that even fit. He is also struggling with not being able to attain proper medicine prescriptions - which cost much more in Mexico because they come from the U.S.

Rolando is a friend, a son, and simply a human being.. who had his life completely teared apart. He needs the help of his community to get back on his feet now that he is being deported without any means of starting a new life. All funds will be used to help Rolando SURVIVE. For food, water, clothes, and medicine. Please consider supporting a man who is in desperate need of help!

Words from Rolando:
“I guess if I wanted to say something is that we often see the separation of families on the news and as sad at it initially seems we don’t quite fully understand how deeply it truly affects families/relatives and friends.

It twists your entire reality, I am still in shock and I can’t believe I went through that I haven’t gone to worse things in life.

My girlfriend cries every night and man the feeling it truly creates in you is new. You feel happy, sad and full of nostalgia and you don’t even know if you should smile or cry. Because I’m sort of happy to say that I’m in my homeland, but truly I am not happy because sometimes home is where a lot of people you care about are.

I have many people I care about here, but I truly don’t feel happy because the other half of my life was just taken away from me

I didn’t get the chance to say bye to my dad. One day he had his son. The next he just didn’t and I heard him tearing up through the phone”
