Emergency Aid for Myanmar 7.7 Earthquake Survivors

On March 28, 2025, a devastating 7.7-magnitude earthquake struck central Myanmar, near Mandalay, causing widespread destruction. Homes, schools, roads, and hospitals have collapsed, displacing thousands and cutting off access to basic services. Over 144 people are confirmed dead, and more than 700 injured, with the true toll still unfolding.

This disaster strikes amid a brutal civil war that has already displaced over a million people and weakened healthcare and infrastructure across the country. Now, survivors of the conflict face a new and terrifying crisis.

The U.S. Geological Survey warns the death toll could rise dramatically—with models projecting fatalities in the tens of thousands, and a significant probability that numbers could exceed 100,000. Rescue efforts are ongoing, but damaged roads and conflict zones are making it hard to reach many survivors in time.
