Emergency Aid for Michele's Home Repair Crisis
Donation protected
My dearest, kindest, most passionate big-hearted friend Michele is in the unfortunate situation of needing major home repairs in her newly purchased Detroit home.
Michele is a Black student midwife putting herself through school while working multiple day jobs and struggling to make ends meet as is. Last year she found an opportunity to secure her very first home through a seller she knew personally who wrongfully encouraged her to waive an inspection among *a long list* of other promises that was suppose to come with the house. Trusting them was a mistake and she owns that, but it doesn't change the outcome of her being taken advantage of. Michele has already had to max out thousands in credit on replacements & installs (furnace, AC, dryer, plumbing, etc), lost many personal expensive items ruined from the first water backup, and will now -again- have to somehow come up with thousands just to correct the foundational issue every time there's a rain storm. The basement has already flooded up to a couple feet high a handful of times in the short 8 months she's had the house — while the seller kept leading her on that he'd come fix things and never did. Because of all this, Michele has had to pause her education for a term 1/2 and miss a ton of paid work just to deal with these issues.
She fell victim to who she thought were friends selling her her first house. A real estate lawyer told her there's nothing that can be done legally :(
Please consider helping this truly amazing person who does so much for others. Help her not have to feel the intense stress, isolation, emotional & mental health turmoil of what a huge financial burden can do to a person. Any amount helps to take the load off so she can continue focusing on becoming a certified midwife that prioritizes Black birthers getting access to the proper care they need!
