Salamalaikum,
In the past few weeks alone, nearly 450000 Afghans have been forcibly deported from Iran, joining over 900000 returnees in the last year. These deportations are sudden, and violent. Leaving women, children, and elderly people with nowhere to go, no money, and no access to shelter, food, or medical care.
Ehsas Welfare and Social Services Organization (EWSSO) is on the ground in Islam Qala at the Afghan-Iranian border, working to support the urgent needs of returnees with hot meals, hygiene kits, transportation, and psychosocial support. Each meal costs just $2.90.
Our goal is to raise $5,000 to provide emergency relief and support for the most vulnerable returnees during this devastating time.
Please go through this document for more information on the situation and the work that Ehsas is doing to help.
Background
Afghanistan is facing an unfolding humanitarian disaster. With the Iranian government imposing new crackdowns on Afghans, hundreds of thousands are being deported, often losing their life savings. Many report arrests, beatings, and extortion. A lot of deportees have spent their whole lives in Iran and were even born there, upon arrival they are coming back to a country they have little to no connection with.
Most returnees arrive hungry, traumatized, and completely destitute.
Where Does Your Donation Go?
Your donations will go directly toward:
