Emergency Funding for Mia

Donation protected
Mia's apartment was flooded with water at 4 am on May 3rd, 2022, because the tenants above her left their faucet running. The flooding caused her apartment ceiling to collapse in four places, spanning from the living room to her bedroom, causing water damage throughout her living space. What easily could've escalated to an electrical fire forced her to flee from her home, only grabbing her cat, Mego, and barebone items.

Some of you may know her as @bitweirdinnit on Instagram. She runs a photography business out of her home. Mia is known for her independent photography as well as concert photography. All the while, she is an instrumental part of the St. Pete artistic community. Her passion lies in creating through her work.

The flooding of her apartment caused devastating damage to her home studio, including her: laptop, camera body and lenses and backdrops. Without these, she cannot create more work that supplements her income. Essential items she also lost include art prints, shoes, clothing, a bed, and furniture.

To Mia's dismay, federal law in Florida states that if an apartment has a running bathroom, it is defined as habitable. This left her landlord in the position of not being able to get another living space suitable during this time. Her apartment is indeed inhabitable, causing her to seek shelter elsewhere.

She is heartbroken but grateful that she and Mego are safe. The damage to her home and her profession is a massive loss.

We hope to raise funds for her emergency housing and get her back onto her feet so that she may continue working by fixing photography gear. Anything you can give will help.
