Colon Contrast & Resection Surgery #2

**$4,900 raised Previously for 1st Surgery, 1 -Year Ago**

April 10, 2023 (One Year Update):

Hello Insta Fam, For the past 9 months, we all have enjoyed watching our cutie Carter grow, into the most Handsome pup. As time went on, Carter acted and looked like a normal pup, never showing any signs of the journey he had went through as a little puppy.
.
Around the middle of March, the old signs of struggle started showing up again. Carter started Straining to poop. After about a week, his straining got worse, to where he was also becoming constipated. His bowel movements were extremely inconsistent and Carter was starting to whimper and get really tired after trying to poop.
.
Today, April 10, Carter had an appointment to see his specialist/vet. Carter needed to have another Colon Contrast Radiographs to see the status of his previous surgery. Unfortunately, what they found was a brand new “Stricture”, narrowing, higher in his Colon. The vet recommended another surgery.
.
The Vet feels due to Carter’s growth from Puppy to Adult dog, the stricture formed as Carter grew bigger and bigger, from his already unhealthy and compromised Colon.

Today’s Vet Bill was $865, and the upcoming Colon Resection will most likely but close to 4k-5k (will confirm once I get invoice)
.
As a pet owner, I always put money away for any pup emergencies. Last week, our family had to PTS our cat Hadlee, which dipped heavily into our Emergency Funding.
.
We also never thought that Carter would need an additional Colon Reduction Surgery, after his initial procedure. The most we thought would be another Ballooning Procedure or two, which would be manageable.
.
I have re-activated Carter’s Go Fund Me in hopes that I can get help covering Carter’s Second Colon Resection Surgery. Thank You ❤️‍- Paws & Kisses

9 Months Ago: $4,900 was raised for previous Prolapse and Resection surgery. We need to raise at least $1,200 MORE for his Upcoming Colon Contract Study and Ballooning Procedure. Story below:

Update: Contrast Study & Ballooning

Insta Fam, I wish I could say it was good news when it came to Carter’s check up today. Unfortunately, it feels like we have taken a big step back in his recovery. .Ever since his Colon Resection, Carter has had a ballooning near his anus and straining. Essentially, he has never pooped right after surgery..We were hopeful that with time these issues would subside and resolved on its own. However, time has not been so kind. .He never stopped ballooning and straining. The worst part, because of the straining he has been bleeding red drops, when he is passing stool. .Carter’s physical exam was normal today, but his vet wants to do a Contrast Study of his GI Track. .He will be checking to make sure there is no stricture in his intestines/colon. Because of the location of the other stricture and it being surgically removed, there is not enough colon to resect due to it getting close to the anus. .If there is a stricture present, the vet wants to do a “Ballooning Procedure” to stretch out the stricture and make it easier for Carter to poop. This will be done over a span of 5 weeks. .As of right now, the procedure that Carter is scheduled for next week is going to cost $625. This is not including the “Ballooning Procedure” which I’m sure is going to be expensive, especially being done once a week for 5 weeks .Below is Carters Fundraiser that we have had going since his first ever procedure. .I hate to have to do this but if you are able to donate, please please please .I know this pup has a great life ahead of him. Other than his poop and bowel problems, he is a sweet, loving and happy puppy. .I can’t imagine not fighting along with this little boy and making sure he can be a functioning puppy. Thank you all for your continued support and love for Carter. .We will make it through this, with Carter’s paws in our hands.

Update; Carter’s Colon Resection Surgery

We got some unfortunate news today from Carter’s doctor. We were all hoping for best case scenario for little Carter. But unfortunately, it turns out that the Carter was dealt a bad hand.

Carter’s colon hardly getting any blood supply. This is another emergency procedure, that has to be done this week. Essentially, a portion of his Colon is dying.

When Carter had his initial surgery, the portion of colon in question had good blood supply but had a large amount of scar tissue. Unfortunately, as time went on, the portion of colon started to stricture and now is slowly dying off.

This is as it sounds, an emergency situation & needs to be done asap.

The surgery itself is all together, another $2,500, which additionally is going to include his pre-op appointment today and post-op medications and care.

I will be sharing the estimate and any other diagnostics once sent to me from the vet! .I hate to ask of this again from all of you, but we are again in need of donations and shares.

I have re-activated Carter’s Go Fund Me and am hopeful that we can send more love to him..The link to Donate is in my bio along with in my stories! .Please feel free to reach out with any questions! ♥️❤️‍

Carter’s Story:

Hello, my name is Carter and I am 6 months old. You might be wondering how I got myself into this mess, and well….. I’m not too sure either.
.
Here is my story: About a month ago, I had surgery to repair my prolapsed rectum. The surgery seemed to be a success & I was free to do what other puppies do!
.
Shortly after my surgery, my family gave me away, where I had to start over with a new family. All seemed to be going well until my rectum prolapsed again.
.
Instead of taking me to the vet to have surgery, my new family dumped me on the porch of my old family’s house. Man, I was really happy to see them but they were really sad to see me. I am sure it’s because my bottom is hurting me again. .
Unfortunately, my old family did not or could not afford to pay for me to have surgery so they said that they were going to take me to the shelter or have me go over the rainbow bridge.
.
My new foster mom decided to give me a chance & brought me into her home. She is doing all she can to get me into a vet ASAP. In the meantime, we are hoping to raise some funds for my surgery, to help soften the blow on my new foster mom.
.
I am in desperate need of surgery & without it there is a potential I can pass away. Our current goal is $2,000 but depending on severity, there is a possibility that is can be more.
.
Please consider donating anything, even if it’s just a couple dollars. Also share if possible! -Paws and Kissed, Carter ♥️
