Emerald Coast Dance Family & Friends,
The COVID-19 pandemic has brought many challenges and firsts to this dance year.
We are thankful that we were able to continue our work through virtual classes over our 8-week studio closure. We are so proud of our dancers' positive attitudes and the work ethic that kept them logging on for classes from their living rooms, bedrooms, and backyards.
There has been much uncertainty throughout this Spring, but one thing we have been sure of from the start is our determination to give our dancers the end-of-year performance opportunity they were promised and deserve.
We are proud to offer ECDC dancers a recital experience like never before in this unprecedented dance season.
Our 2020 "Virtual Recital" experience will take our dancers to a video set to record the routines they've worked so hard on. These dances will be complied into a film and each dancer will receive a copy.
Part of what makes a recital so magical is the gathering of all the dancers and families in the theatre. Since that isn't possible this year, our goal is to host an outdoor watch party in early August to premiere our Recital together.
In a normal show, with a live audience, our recital expenses are covered by ticket sales. Though our recital will look different this year, there are still many costs associated with this production including the venue rental, sound, lighting, and videography. With a Premiere Party added, our expenses will likely exceed our normal recital expenditures.
During these uncertain times we know that we are all "in the same storm, but in a different boat". We want to make the recital accessible to all of our dancers. We feel it unfair to charge a "recital fee" to participate in this show. Instead, we are asking our dance families and friends to contribute to our GoFundMe account.
We ask that you consider donating the amount you would have spent on your recital tickets, or whatever you feel comfortable with. Every donation will help us create a memorable and special RECITAL LIKE NEVER BEFORE for our dancers.
