Transplant and Second Chance!

Donation protected

March 30, 2019, I woke up feeling a little “off”. By noon, I was in emergency surgery to stop a hemorrhage in my stomach and put shunts in my esophagus. When I came out and was resting, the surgeons told me my liver was failing, that I was in End stage liver failure and had maybe 10 to 90 days left. I shocked them by not only getting out of the hospital within 5 days, I’ve maintained my health and am still kickin over 2 years later! Clearly, it wasn’t my time yet (I’m stubborn like that!). By stopping alcohol, Tylenol, losing weight, taking supplements and eating better, I’ve maintained a decent MELD score and - as if April 22 - was accepted as a transplant recipient at the UofM Liver Center ❤️ I’ve made very smart financial arrangements and choices to go through this process but the only expense I’m currently having a snag with is the pre-rental of the medical apartment on Mpls Campus I’ll be set up in for 30 to 60 days after I’m released from ICU. They go quickly, and fill up fast so my Transplant Team said it’s go time to hold a residency. As embarrassed as I am to ask for handouts, if I don’t have a place taken care of temporarily, they’ll bump me down on the list. And if you can’t donate (I know it’s been a hard time for everyone financially, emotionally and physically), your Good JuJu will be soooo welcomed as well

if anyone has ANY questions or if YOU are going through something and need an ear, I have the time and the shoulder

Here’s to Second Chances - a luxury only afforded to few. much Love n Peace!
