Defend Emerald City Cocktails

I am a small business owner who truly needs a bit of help in keeping my dream alive.

Emerald City Cocktails is a private bartending service in Seattle that I launched on my own in October of 2016, after I borrowed and saved enough money to purchase a portable bar and some shirts with the company logo. I started off by advertising on Craigslist, renting vans for gigs, and pitching my brand to anyone who would listen. It took weeks and weeks of focus and determination just to book my first event.

In the year since our humble beginning, through the hard work of myself and others, the company has grown larger and more successful than I could have initially hoped. I employ seven amazing, talented, wonderful people who have been integral in tripling our first-year projections, developing a sterling reputation in the community, and cultivating a dazzling list of clients. With our success I have been able to purchase a work van that expanded our service area, and secure a booth at the 2018 Seattle Wedding Show.  The future is bright! 

Unfortunately, in a year that has generated so much pride and good fortune (not to mention happy clients!), we have hit a roadblock. An out-of-state company has filed suit against me personally and Emerald City Cocktails, claiming that our performance during an event has entitled them to damages. Let me be clear: this groundless case is transparent in its intention to bankrupt the company and ruin me financially. This business means everything to me; I have created something out of nothing with my life savings and extreme hard work, and its success to date validates that we're doing things right. I have the constitution to fight this with every fiber of my being, and I will exhaust all avenues and resources to defend this company against those who presume to topple it simply because they choose to.

I am asking for your support in defending against this frivolous and baseless lawsuit. As I am now painfully aware, civil litigation is designed to allow those with money to exhaust those without, until their victims capitulate, compromise, and simply give in, without the resolve for justice. My wonderful employees and I provided the plaintiff with the best service possible; now, they have refused to pay their outstanding balance and compounded their audacity with a lawsuit. What I have is righteousness and the truth; what I need is your financial support to defend myself in King County Superior Court against this absurd litigation. 

I'm not adept at asking for help, and I'm even worse at accepting it. However, this business is years of my hard work and savings, and it is more important than my hesitations or modesty. Please help me in defending what I have worked so hard for. Literally, anything helps. 100% of donations will go directly to attorneys fees for our defense.
