Embracing Rena's Courage: United in Love Together

Donation protected

We are Rena Eileen's aunts (Emily & Allie) and uncles (Justin), and we want to share Rena's story with you with the hope you'll join us in supporting this brave little soul and her family during this heart-wrenching journey.

At just two years old, Rena is facing a battle that no child should ever have to endure. She has been diagnosed with leukodystrophy, a cruel and terminal illness. This rare genetic disorder is like a thief, slowly robbing Rena of her abilities, her smile, and the joy that radiates from her.

Imagine the devastation we felt when this lively and bright-eyed little girl stopped gaining weight and started stumbling while trying to walk. Our hearts sank as we hoped it was something minor, maybe just an ear infection. But the reality was far more painful than we could have imagined. Metachromatic Leukodystrophy (MLD) affects only 1 in 40,000 children, and it has taken away our sweet Rena's chance at a carefree childhood.

Rena is not alone in this fight. She has a loving 4-year old brother, Peter, who loves playing and reading with his sister. Their parents, Christian and his wife Hannah, are struggling to stay strong amidst the overwhelming grief. Hannah, a passionate kindergarten teacher, and Christian, a creative soul, have dedicated their lives to nurturing children and fostering creativity. Now, they need our help to support Rena's changing needs and provide her with the best care possible.

As Rena's medical expenses continue to accumulate, we can't bear the thought of not being able to give her the comfort and care she deserves. We want Rena to know she's surrounded by love, even in the face of such adversity.

The funds raised through this GoFundMe campaign will go towards medical expenses, therapies that can help their family cope with the immense pain, and making necessary accommodations to Rena's home. Rena deserves to feel safe and cherished in her surroundings, no matter how much time she has left.

The devastating diagnosis came in July 2023, shattering our world in an instant. Rena had been growing strong, her laughter filling our hearts with warmth. Now, we hold onto every precious moment, cherishing each smile and creating memories that will forever be etched in our souls.

Our family is reaching out to you, our extended community, for support and empathy. We want to show Rena that she is not alone in this fight, that there are countless hearts beating in unison with hers, sending her love and strength.

So, please, help us embrace Rena's courage and unite our hearts in love and support. Every contribution, no matter how big or small, will make a difference. Let's surround Rena and her family with the warmth of compassion and stand together as she faces this tremendous challenge.

Thank you for taking the time to read Rena's story and for opening your heart to this precious little fighter. Your kindness and generosity will make a world of difference in her life and will be put directly towards Rena's fight.

With heartfelt gratitude,
Rena's Aunts: Emily Wagoner, Allie Remmers, Erin Matley, Christine Wagner
Rena's Uncles: Justin Matley, JJ Shebesta, Nick Shebesta, Jacob Remmers, Joe Wagoner
