EMBODIED: A self-care guide
Donation protected
Hello and welcome to my fundraising page.
For those that don’t know me, I’m Tara (the person in the photo above :-)). In that picture, as you can hopefully see, I’m chilled, having fun and feel like me.
That hasn’t always been the case, well, at least it wasn’t for a good part of my life so far.
Following the death of my mother at a young age, I went through years of self-harming – eating disorders, addictions to drinking, drugs, TV, food and other things, lots of self-loathing, being broke and in debt, and spiralling in and out of depression. I always put on a brave face and tried to get through it. I hated myself and my life and didn’t know what the point of it all was. This was my existence.
A few years ago something inside me clicked – I was sick and tired of being this way and doubly motivated by external events I HAD to change my life, so I did. Slowly, little by little, I began to turn things around, with support from others. I started to look after myself, try and show myself I actually did care and maybe, just maybe, life could be better.
It did. I found new tools and ways to help me learn to love myself, I committed to myself each and every day, and life just keeps on getting better. Now I want to share this story.
With your help I would love to self-publish this book as I know it has a place right now in the world. Too many of us have learned to put everyone and everything else first and have gone through life with a brave face when inside we are struggling.
The book is in its final stages of being written, I am on my 3rd full draft, so it’s almost ready to find its place in the world. It includes an honest, vulnerable and deeply personal account of my journey and what I went through. Then there is a comprehensive guide with 52 practical self-care tips, actions and inspiration as well as real life examples of how I used these things to help me heal.
I am asking for your help to make this a reality as I know that by sharing my journey it can help many others going through similar things, looking for hope or a way forward.
The funds I raise will help me to:
- Publish with The Unbound Press, a soul-led publishing imprint, committed to working with female authors whose writing activates a feeling of deep connection and transformation in others. This includes providing ISBNs, proof-reading, cover and interior design, distribution of electronic and paperback versions via Amazon and other major distributors.
- Support with PR and marketing, in addition to my own efforts (I have a growing audience I have been building for the past 2.5 years and contacts with some media titles).
- Get 100 copies of the book to help with my media outreach.
I will send a digital copy of the book for all donations over £10 and a signed paperback copy of the book for all donations over £50 (UK) and £75 (anywhere in the world).
I am so grateful to you for your time and for supporting me in any way you can.
With so much love and gratitude,
Tara xo
