Help Us Repair Our Home

We, Kris and Jules, were dealt a devastating blow this fall when old joists and beams in our 140-year-old house in Riverside, RI collapsed

causing half of the floor to fall into the crawl space below. Our homeowner's insurance doesn't cover the cost of repairs.

We love the house and are steadily working to fix the problem. Kris is an experienced carpenter, but we cannot complete the work on our own. We have received a great deal of support from our wide community of friends and family. We are very grateful for daily calls of encouragement, donations of money towards the cost of the job, the gift of alternate housing for us through the middle of January, local volunteers giving their time and energy to help with the less glamorous yet very necessary parts of the job, and friends who are willing and able to help us start this GoFundMe page so that we can finish the work that has begun.

We are setting a starting goal for this GoFundMe at $30,000 to help cover the following expected expenses:

*Materials to make the crawl space deeper to help control moisture issues

*Lumber to rebuild the floor - including framing joists and beams, plywood subflooring, and the final flooring installation.

*Covering the cost of labor with experienced workers who can work to Kris’ expectations to complete the job.

*Cover the cost of environmental clean-up after the job is complete

*Funds toward the continued need for alternate housing.
