During a recording of "The Portal," Eric Weinstein, the host, discussed the American student debt crisis and insane tuition rates with me, Kimberly De La Cruz, the spokesperson of SeekingArrangement and "Sugar Baby University.”
Why? Because "Sugar Baby University" (SBU) is SeekingArrangement's answer to the financial nightmare that is higher education in the U.S. The world's largest Sugar Dating website is challenging this enormous burden on young people by connecting them with Sugar Daddies -- generous individuals with the means to help with tuition, books, living expenses and everything else that results in fewer college students having to incur a lifetime of crippling debt.
Here's where my personal story comes in, and part of the reason, I imagine, why Eric so generously offered to raise money to pay off my $50,000 student loan debt, which means I can go back to school and finish what I started 15 years ago.
As you likely heard on the podcast, tuition rates are rising at eight percent per year, and millennials are facing unprecedented debt. I’m a part of this demographic.
I believe Eric is genuinely interested in rebuilding the broken higher education system in America, and one of the many things he’s doing to achieve this is to erase that burden from my life. It’s the kindest thing anyone has ever done for me. So, thank you, Eric.
