The tumor is located in the posterior chest cavity in the soft tissue of the third rib where there is also lytic destruction. This location also makes surgery difficult and possibly deforming, therefore she will need radiation as well as the chemotherapy.
Her prognosis looks good, but her treatment will be long and trying.
Elysia will be receiving 14 cycles of chemotherapy every other week for approximately 10-12 months assuming everything goes perfectly well. On her 7th cycle, she will begin radiation. Some cycles last 5 days, and others for 3 days. This plan is liable to vary depending on a number of factors throughout her treatment.
Elysia continues to show the enthusiasm and positivity we all love her for despite the symptoms and side effects of chemo/medications. She is approaching this tough and unexpected situation with the nurtured curiosity of a scientific mind.
The funds raised will assist our family in paying medical bills, Elysia's medications, feeding our family, transportation, and help to make up for the time my husband will miss work to attend appointments and care for Elysia during this intensive treatment. I've temporarily suspended my full-time courses at UCCS and part-time employment at the college so I can be fully and readily available.
Due to our financial circumstances before and after Elysia's cancer diagnosis - we are now looking outward for help and assistance. We greatly appreciate your time, support, and well-wishes.
Thank you <3
