Elvira's Accident Recovery

Donation protected
Dear friends,

Those of you who know us personally know who Elvira is, and just how much she means to our family. For the past two years, Elvira has been there for us through thick and thin. She has devoted herself to our family. She fed and played, bathed and entertained our little ones, nursed them to health when they were sick, brought them treats, showered them with presents, and worked tirelessly to make sure that not just the kids- but our whole family was always taken care of.  She did all this effortlessly and always with the most genuine warmth and happiness. She has loved our kids as they were her own, and has in every way become a part of our family.

A few days ago after a very ordinary day at work, Elvira hugged our children goodbye and was on her way home when she was hit by a car. The impact was so hard that her body was thrown into the air. We were lucky to be able to accompany her to the ER where her husband Max met us. Elvira was kept overnight, and underwent a series of tests, scans and x-rays. Yesterday she was finally sent home with a broken knee, a few scrapes, and of course a lot of emotional trauma.

Although they are optimistic and grateful to be alive, her family is in a bit of shock and is trying to figure out how to get through the next few months. Elvira has a long road of recovery ahead with possible surgery and physical therapy. Needless to say she will not be able to work and in addition to every-day living costs, Elvira and Max have a severely disabled son who is in need of around-the-clock care that she will no longer be able to provide. The expenses that add up are too much for her family to handle and that’s where we hope our friends and community will be able to pitch in. We will do all we can to help her through the next few months but at this time financial support is what they need most. In addition to basic expenses like rent and food, the money will be used for medical care, hospital travel, nighttime supervision for their son and so many other unpredictable costs that will arise. We ask you to please give whatever you can. Every amount counts and will make a significant difference in their quality of life until Elvira (as the main provider) is back on her feet.

With our most heartfelt gratitude,
